Archive for March, 2012

Hey folks,

Well with this being the last Friday in March, just thought I’d post what I’ll be working on.

For April it’s Script Frenzy where writers all over the world attempt to write a 100 page script  in 30 days. I’ll be participating again and this time I intend to make that 100 page mark.

Also with March being both National Craft Month and Women’s History Month, I plan to take photos of my artwork and sell it on eBay, hopefully I’ll get some sales this time.

I call this a holdover from Black History Month but still wanted to post it.

While reading the book, Small Screen, Big Picture by Chad Gervich, I came across a part mentioning Yvette Lee Bowser, who created the 90s hit sitcom, Living Single and also worked on two other black sitcoms, The Cosby show spin-off, A Different World and Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper.

Yvette became the first African American Woman to create her own Television series. Prior to that, Soul Train Host, the late Don Cornelius was the first African American to own a TV show.

From the 70s to the early 2000s there have been many African American TV series that have come and gone.

There are still some around today but they’re not the same as the early shows such as Good Times(1970s), The Cosby Show(1984), and Sister, Sister(1990s) just to name a few.

That being said, with several contests coming up this spring and in the summer I plan to enter them and hope  to stand a better chance than last year.

Will post how things go.

See ya on Monday!

Good Day in L.A.

Hey folks,

It’s Wednesday, anyway, spent a day in L.A.

Got up early which wasn’t all that pleasant, was cold and tired.

After a short pit stop in Primm Valley, kept on going.

Woke up some time later and was able to see the sunrise, ironically the track Daybreak by Lawson Rollins was playing on the radio.

Got quite a surprise seeing the mountains in San Bernardino Nat’l forest covered in snow!

After grabbing breakfast and going through downtown, it took some time but I did manage to get out to Santa Monica.

It was cold and there was some cloud cover out on the ocean but aside from that it was nice.

Got some coffee at Starbucks prior to that, great to have a cold morning even though Spring started last week.

Grabbed some chicken and a pie at Knotts Berry Farm and headed back.

Despite it being a day trip and (me getting sick) it was a good day.

Will post the photos I’ve taken later on.

See ya on Friday!

Hey folks,

Due to having to get up early tomorrow, there’ll be a delay in my next blog post. No sweat, I’ll be doing a special bonus tomorrow, but if it’s not posted check back during normal hours.

Sorry for the delay.

See ya tomorrow… or on Wednesday!

Hey folks,

Still trying to recover, felt almost lethargic all day.

Sorry for not updating.

On another note, yesterday was pleasant, didn’t expect to see so many butterflies on the first day of spring. I plan order some caterpillars to raise and release this spring. Having seen that there’s a lot of butterflies around this year,  I don’t think mine will have a hard time finding other members of their kind, might take them a while to get used to living in ‘the wild’ though.

Will post how that goes. But for now I plan to just kick back and catch up on some sleep.

See ya on Friday!

Hey folks, calling in sick(again) so sorry.

I hope to be up and running again before the week’s over. Aside from that today marks the last day of winter! Whoo-hoo, goodbye cold snap, hello warm afternoons!

See ya on Wednesday!

Hey folks!

It’s friday but this time I around I decided to change things up by adding some comedy.

Inspired by my post, Stupid is, Stupid does: Why We Laugh. I decided to do another one. Here’s the original: https://rudybeagle.wordpress.com/2011/05/23/stupid-is-stupid-does-why-we-laugh/

Featured below are some of my favorite funny videos of this year so far along with some favorites from last year and my personal commentary on both.

WARNING: Some of the following clips contain language of a frank and explicit nature, viewer discretion is advised.

Everybody hates Chris- Everybody hates Fat Mike clip

Commentary: Although I don’t care for profanity, this clip is hilarious. The first time I watched this episode when it aired in September of 2005, I have to say, I don’t think I laughed like that in a long time.

Rob & Big Net gun clip(Full version)

Commentary: This clip made me laugh so much, my sides hurt. I watch reruns of this show mostly for the laughs. It’s hilarious!

Rob & Big- Spiderman

Commentary: Again, while I dislike the use of profanity, this clip cracks me up! I saw the guy who dresses like Spiderman in Hollywood near Graman’s Chinese Theater! It was hard for me to keep a straight face since seeing him made me think of this clip.

Pug Falls in Toilet

Commentary: While on youtube I saw this clip on the sidebar as a featured video and clicked on it. Now I send it to pretty much anyone who needs a good laugh. I also have a pug who gives me the same look when either he’s done something wrong or is nervous.

The Jace Hall Show: Outtakes- Season 3 Episode # 4- Snacktime

Commentary: Now this one, is hard to watch without laughing. Outtakes are one of the best behind-the-scenes bits in Hollywood, it shows actors and actresses not only having fun on the set but also shows we all make mistakes and some things don’t always go as planned. But at the end of the day, a person can chalk up a good laugh.

The Jace Hall Show: Outtakes- Stan Lee Coffee

Commentary: Who does love Comicbooks and Comedy? I do!  Stan Lee, is not only one of the top comicbook writers/creators in the Comicbook industry  but he’s a nice, down-to-earth guy who enjoys a good laugh.

The Question Singing

Commentary: Loosely based on Britney Spears hit song, “Oops, I did it again.” in this seen DC comics, detective, The Question,(voiced by Jeffrey Combs) sings a pop song playing on the radio in a scene prior to this and at the same time picks the lock on a door by throwing a topiary through the glass. I’ve caught myself whistling this song, it’s a funny scene. One that gets me going every time. This would make a hilarious ringtone.

Internet Watch Dog: The actor and the watch

Commentary: I’m sure at some point everyone’s had their share of bad customer service(I know I have). Still funny though. Spoke with Rekha via email and I have to say, she’s really nice. Would like to see her in a comedy related  film or TV role. Looking at some of the panels and interviews at various comic-cons, she’s pretty funny.

Ultimate Dog Tease

Commentary: And last but not least, found this via a link posted by one of the people I follow on twitter. Pretty funny. The video of this Akita/Shepherd mix has become so popular and was featured on Good Morning, America’s water cooler segment. There has been announcement that there might be a full length movie featuring this dog! Aside from that, anyone who has a dog can probably relate to this video. I should know, both of mine beg to no end.

Well that does it for my Why We laugh post. I may do another one later this year so stay tuned.

See ya on Monday!
