Utah State of Mind

Hey y’all… it’s Monday…

Why the strange title? I went to Utah!

Though this wasn’t my first time. I went to St. George in February 2008 when there was still snow on the ground.

This trip however was different, despite the hot afternoon it was a nice trip. But let me rewind and go through my trip.

My folks got up early and we all got in the car and drove.  Slept for the first half of the trip and woke up when we entered Mesquite, after that the scenery started to change. I have to admit the first half of the drive from Vegas to St. George is dull as dirt… No, seriously. it’s flat land and not much else.

At oine point in the drive the road crosses into Arizona which in all honestly, is breath-taking for the next 11-14 miles. Formations, plants and local wildlife make this drive worth the trip. Saw a hawk take off and fly alongside one of the canyon walls. Bring a camera!

Enjoyed hearing the birds for a change, saw a Western Fence lizard during lunch. Small but handsome guy.

Overall it was a good day, ended the with good old southern catfish dinner at Cracker Barrel. Looked around the store got some souvenirs and headed home. Saw some Black Angus cows grazing, a few had calves which looked so cute! As much as I love Angus beef,  I doubt I could eat one of these particular cows, they looked so gentle and relaxed.

The drive back through the canyon was breathtaking, I highly recommend bringing a camera.

The small river that runs through it is also pleasant and animals seem to agree. While driving through the canyon, there was great blue heron standing in the middle of the river. Hey, if you’re gonna stop for water, I can’t think of a better place.

Overall, it was a good day.

Topped of the evening with a dark chocolate peanut butter filled cupcake.

St. George is a pleasant little town and worth visiting for a day.

I managed to get some good photos.

Will post them soon.

See ya on Wednesday!

Hi y’all.

Sorry for not updating yesterday, I was tired last night  for one reason… I got my hair did! 🙂 Not a bad thing and with two days before graduation day at the horse ranch I’m good to go.

Anyhow, I know a month ago I promised to post about my trip to Seattle but for one reason or another I just never got around to it until now.

Day 1: Didn’t really do much except run errands and such. But on a lighter note I did get to see the city and some wild life. I’ve seen pigeons, blackbirds and sparrows and Costco but not ducks! that’s right, there were mallard ducks walking around the food court outside. It was a pleasant moment for me. There was a nearby pond so it’s safe to say they came from there. Had dinner at a great Mexican restaurant, I give the place a four star rating.

Day 2- Got up in the morning and went to the Pike Place market which was truly my element! There were so many vendors and different things to see. Took plenty of pictures and tried some great food and samples.  Got a burger and fries for dinner at a sports grill called the Pumphouse, another place worth going to in Seattle. Overall this was a good day.

Day 3 – Woke up at the crack of dawn, did some last-minute cleaning, packing, etc… before leaving. Hit the road around 7am, grabbed breakfast short after leaving Seattle. Spent the next few hours stuck in the backseat of a loaded car traveling from Washington to Northern California. Enjoyable but uncomfortable at the same time. Arrived in San Francisco later that night.

Day 3- Woke up in San Francisco, grabbed breakfast downstairs at the hotel where I stayed, packed up the bags afterward and checked out. Drove through the city and made a pit stop at the Golden Gate Bridge, which is quite a sight in person after seeing for years via TV shows and movies such as Full House and Homeward Bound 2: Lost in San Francisco(my favorite movie). Well a few snapshots later I’m back in the car heading out of the city. Stopped for lunch in Oakland and kept on going. It rained on and off but it wasn’t bad saw three rainbows in one day! Got into L.A. around 8:30pm just in time to catch the second half of the SAG awards.

Overall despite some of the hardships of the trip it was great. I got to see a lot of the Pacific northwest, some wild life(including a couple of moose) and plenty of other interesting things.

I got a few souvenirs from the trip and over 100+ photos!

After arriving in L.A. on Sunday that’s where I stayed pretty much for the next 3 days and returned Thursday evening.

I came back with not only some great photos and stories but ideas too for my writing. I also got to see the places where Are we there yet? and Homeward 2 were filmed.  Who knew there was so much farm and forest land between Washington and California? I didn’t until now.

Needless to say the trip was great!

Would I like to take kind of trip again? Yes! yes I would but for now I’ll settle for a trip to L.A. or San Diego for Comic-Con.

Right now, I’m off to take a break and watch a movie and grab some dinner in between.

See ya tomorrow!
